Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion

The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) committee in the Department of Physics at McGill is a group of students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty members that aims to create a working environment that is safe and inclusive. We achieve these goals by

• Organizing a variety of social and educational activities and events in the physics department (e.g., trivia nights, annual EDI colloquia),
• Suggesting to and negotiating with the department to improve existing intra-departmental policies (e.g., parental leave),
• Directing members of the physics department to relevant EDI resources,
• And developing/participating in outreach to the community including CEGEPs with a focus on both science and the importance of diversity in the field.
• Create and maintain set of classroom resources for course instructors to use in order to facilitate a more diverse representation of physicists in teaching.
